Why is it so effortless to offer other people good advice about their lives, but so incredibly difficult to apply those same insights in your own?

because you have an external view on their lives it is easy to see things as they truely are. When you are in the middle of it all, not so easy. It is ALWAYS easier to give then to receive advice.

People that talk about their problems and people that advise how to fix them are simply talking to hear themselves talk. Additionally, when my friends talk about problems they are playing the part of the victim. I feel compelled to offer advice mainly because there simply can’t be 2 victims at one table... that would be boring

Too true, I guess we can archive this one under 'rhetorical posts'.

or

Do I have to choose only one? All of them are quite relevant, although I quite like the third.

I think it is because when you give advice to someone they have to apply a change of some sort and we ALL hate change. Hence easier to tell someone else the changes they need than apply it to ourselves. Most times we know what we need to do just don't want to do it. I don't think it has ANYTHING with wanting to hear themselves talk!!
